As a small local charity we rely on our dedicated volunteers to continue providing a service for vulnerable young people in need.

Volunteering for Streetlife is a highly rewarding experience and there is something for everyone – whether that be in our shelter, day centre, behind the scenes or providing a home cooked meal as part of our Food 4 Thought initiative.

Every single volunteer is highly valued and appreciated for everything they do. In return for your kindness you can expect an overwhelming sense of purpose, a community, training & development and being part of a supportive team. We could not do any of this without you!

The Base

Our day centre, The Base is open weekdays for drop in from 12.30-15.30, where young people can access a hot meal along with an array of practical and emotional support.

It is a lively and uplifting environment with lots going on and we always need volunteers to help with practicalities such as serving lunch, maintaining the kitchen whilst being a friendly face and listening ear for our young people.

Night Shelter

The night shelter is open 24/7, 365 days a year and is the heart and of the service, we provide at Streetlife.

The shelter provides a safe space for young people 16-25 to stay each night so they can avoid sleeping rough or sleeping in unsafe environments.  This truly gives an opportunity to make a difference in a young persons life.

Food for Thought

It isn’t just front-line workers who contribute to the Shelter. Our Food for Food4Thought campaign gives people an opportunity to cook a meal for young people and staff.

All you need to do to get involved is cook a hot meal for 8 young people and 2 workers, and deliver to the Shelter between 7 to 7.30pm, ready to be served.

More details in our Food4Thought Guide

If you wish to provide food for the Shelter, please email  debbie.creegan@wearestreetlife.org

Work Placements

As well as volunteers, we also welcome workers on placement at the Day Centre and/or Night Shelter (including students at college/university who are required to complete a placement as part of their studies).

Please be aware that face-to-face work with young people is restricted to people aged 18+ and subject to references and a DBS check.
