June 1st to 7th was Volunteers Week in England, and it provided an excellent opportunity for us to reflect on everything our volunteers do and ensure they feel appreciated for their unwavering support.
Streetlife would not be the charity it is today without the support of our amazing volunteers, and we certainly could not continue operating without them. We currently have an incredible 68 volunteers working across our services. Some of their roles include the following.
- The Board of Trustees
- Frontline Volunteers at The Base & The Night Shelter, who are always ready with a hot brew and an understanding ear
- Our Overseas Volunteer Youth Workers
- Mentors who support our Overseas Volunteers
- Food 4 Thought Volunteers, who prepare and deliver home-cooked meals for those staying at The Shelter
- Friends Of Streetlife Volunteer Fundraising Team (who recently raised over £1300 at our family fun day!)
Our wonderful team is made up of 78% volunteers, who very kindly give their own time, knowledge and expertise to support our young people in many different ways.
We love the idea of Volunteers Week, and we wanted to give our young people the chance to say thank you in a really special way, which is why they organised a week full of celebrations.

We received extremely positive feedback from our Volunteer Week celebrations and are all feeling incredibly proud of our young people for organising and planning these amazing and thoughtful workshops. This is an excellent example of what happens when a team comes together and can be added to the long list of amazing things our young people have achieved.
Streetlife is a charity dedicated to supporting vulnerable young people, aged 16 to 25, in Blackpool. The Base is a day centre drop-in where individuals can come to learn new skills, speak to someone who cares and have a healthy, hot meal.
The Night Shelter has 8 emergency beds available to prevent people from sleeping on the streets. It gives our young people access to a warm shower and a nutritious evening meal.
These services have a significant impact on our young people and the local community, who often rally together to help us raise funds and awareness. Read about our latest BIG SleepOut event here.
Our volunteers are the heart of Streetlife. They ensure that our young people are safe and comfortable and have access to everything they need. They also support them with opportunities for education, training, employment and housing.
Everyone at Streetlife would like to say a heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers who dedicate their time and skills to support our amazing young people and us.
