We are delighted to share that the 2026 SleepOut was a huge success! We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who got involved again this year.
Every year, we try to make the event bigger and better, and none of it would be possible without the support of our generous community and sponsors.
We are so proud to share that we have raised a HUGE 38K, beating last year’s total of 37K!
The event
On Friday, 17th April, over 100 people gathered on the streets of St John’s Square in Blackpool for the annual Streetlife SleepOut. The event requires people to bring sleeping bags and warm clothing to spend one night on the street. Refreshments are provided throughout the evening, including hot drinks.
130 people signed up this year, and 115 made it on the night, giving up their beds to support vulnerable local young people in crisis.
Everyone who took part knows that spending one night at an arranged event is very different to the harsh realities of experiencing homelessness. The event is not designed to mimic homelessness. Its purpose is to raise vital funds to keep the only emergency night shelter across the Fylde Coast open for another 365 days, providing a lifesaving service for those with nowhere else to turn.
That said, it is not a comfortable experience, and without the support of our selfless community taking part in events, raising sponsorship and highlighting the work our organisation does, we simply could not exist, so we, and more importantly, the young people we support, are very grateful.
Many of these young people face homelessness and other issues, meaning that they do not have a safe place to call home, as so many of us are lucky enough to.

Thank you
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part, sponsored the event, donated and shared our event online. Your support means so much to all of us at Streetlife and the people that we help.
We understand that fundraising is challenging right now due to the rising cost of living and the economic pressures that most households are facing. We are incredibly grateful for the phenomenal effort of our supporters and local community.
How the money supports Streetlife
Every penny which is raised at the BIG SleepOut event goes straight back into our services. We provide a range of services for young people, including our eight-bed night shelter and the base, our day centre, where we host a range of activities.
We heavily invest in our young people, enabling them to have experiences that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. Check out our podcast series, which our young people run. Our young people have also won awards for their hard work at our centre, including Blackpool In Bloom.
We are extremely grateful to everyone who has taken the time to join us at the event, sponsor it, donate money, or even share our posts to raise awareness.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
