At Streetlife, we rely on the generosity of the local community, and one of the most significant ways people can help us make a difference is by volunteering. After another fantastic year, we wanted to say a special thank you to our valued volunteers.
Thank you
Last week, we organised a special evening at The Grand Theatre in Blackpool to celebrate the huge contribution that they make to Streetlife.
During the evening, we were given a guided tour of the theatre, learning more about its colourful history from their amazing team. After the tour, we enjoyed the entertainment from quirky duo Black Liver and then were invited on stage for a delicious dining experience.
After dining, the wonderful managers at Streetlife took the time to present long-service awards to our dedicated volunteers. We celebrated those who have been supporting us for six months, all the way to those who have supported us for over five years.
Our amazing volunteers
We are so lucky to have such an incredible, dedicated team of volunteers. We currently have over 50 volunteers who all perform different roles within our organisation. Their roles range from supporting young people at The Night Shelter and The Base to preparing meals for the shelter, serving on the Board of Trustees, mentoring overseas volunteers, assisting with student placements, and more.
It really does take the kindness of so many people to allow our services to continue running.
Over the last six months, our volunteers have donated more than 1,000 hours of their own time to support young people in Blackpool in crisis.
We are thrilled to have spent an evening celebrating their dedication and support.

Streetlife x The National Lottery
We were fortunate to receive funding from the National Lottery Community Fund last year, which enabled us to hire a volunteer coordinator. Their role involves recruiting, training, and supporting our volunteers, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated within our amazing team.
Our volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation, and it’s been really nice to step back and appreciate their importance in our team. We are so proud of their journey and thrilled to facilitate evenings like this one.
Supporting Streelife
Volunteering with Streetlife is a highly rewarding experience. Opportunities are available in our shelter, day centre, behind-the-scenes, or by providing a home-cooked meal as part of our Food 4 Thought initiative.
Every volunteer is highly valued and appreciated for everything they do. In return for your kindness, you can expect an overwhelming sense of purpose, a sense of community, training and development, and being part of a supportive team. We could not do any of this without you!
We would love to have you on board. Find out more about our volunteering opportunities here.
