Dare we say that Christmas is almost here again! You know what that means, it’s the perfect time to spread festive cheer and put a smile on people’s faces!
At Streetlife, we rely on the generosity of our local community to make Christmas special for our young people. Many of our young people are unable to spend Christmas with their loved ones, which highlights the importance of our year-round support.
Christmas is a happy time to make memories, but unfortunately, that’s not the case for many of our young people, who often spend the festive period feeling more isolated than normal.
What we do
Streetlife is a youth work charity that provides emergency shelter and support to vulnerable and homeless young people aged 16-25 in Blackpool and the surrounding areas.
Streetlife operates a Night Shelter in St John’s Square. This emergency facility has eight bedrooms and is open 365 days a year. Young people who visit the shelter can have overnight accommodation and a warm meal. Each person staying with us has a lockable room with access to shared kitchen and bathroom facilities.
Our incredible team is always on hand to provide support and ensure that young people feel safe and comfortable during their stay with us.
We also operate the Base on Buchanan Street. This is a drop-in centre open Monday to Friday. When visiting here, young people can learn new skills, enjoy a healthy lunch, wash their clothing, and access mental health support.
In addition to providing support with basic needs, there is a whole weekly programme dedicated to promoting well-being and empowering young people with the skills to manage their own needs. We welcome all young people aged 16-25 in the local area to The Base.
