The sponsorship has been counted, and Streetlife are thrilled to announce that an amazing £37,000 was raised by participants during the Big SleepOut 2025!
Just last month, the Streetlife team and hundreds of generous locals spent the night sleeping on the street outside the Night Shelter.
The event helps to raise awareness and vital funds so that we can continue to offer our valued services to vulnerable young people in Blackpool.
Streetlife offers various services, including a day centre for drop-ins, healthy meals, meeting new people and developing new skills. Our Night Shelter provides a comfortable and safe place for homeless young people to stay overnight.
We wouldn’t be able to offer these services without the kindness and generosity of the local community. Our amazing volunteers also play a huge role in our success, ensuring that our young people have access to everything they need and are safe.
Our sponsorship
We want to say a huge thank you to the wonderful Beaverbrooks the Jewellers team for sponsoring the Big SleepOut. This was the 10th anniversary of the event, and they helped to make it bigger and better than ever. We are extremely grateful to the many members of the team who joined us for the event.
Their team alone raised a whopping £3623, which the company has very kindly doubled to make it £7246.
The event
Brave individuals, families, friends and business colleagues grabbed their sleeping bags to
raise awareness about youth homelessness and generate vital sponsorship to keep
Streetlife’s services running all year round.
The event offers a tiny glimpse of how it could feel to spend a night sleeping on the street, which is a stark reality for many young people who don’t have a safe place to call home.
Kim, Communications Manager at Streetlife, has talked about how nice it was to have the community together, helping to raise vital awareness on youth homelessness. Kim also said:
“It was a wonderful night filled with camaraderie and community spirit. We even had the local LGBTQIA+ choir Electric Pink Voices perform in a surprise pop-up to celebrate reaching our 10th Big Sleepout, which really brought everyone together”
“Once the town goes quiet in the early hours of the morning and the temperature drops, you
really do have the time to reflect on just how traumatic it must be to have no safe place to
call home. We guarantee that every participant leaves with a newfound gratitude for the
basics, which so many of us often take for granted during the daily hustle of everyday life”
Our support
In 2024, Streetlife provided emergency accommodation for 120 young people who found
themselves without a safe place to sleep at their 8-bed emergency shelter.
The Base, which supported over 320 individuals last year, is open 5 days a week. Visitors can enjoy a free hot lunch along with an array of practical and emotional help, including access to mental health support with their on-site therapist.
All young people in Blackpool and the surrounding areas are welcome to visit the drop-in; no appointment or referral is needed.
