Streetlife is proud to share some incredible artwork that was shown within our centre for an exhibition earlier this month.
We were joined by the wonderful Jay Wheeler (@loveartglobal), a street artist who creates insightful art pieces.
The exhibition, named ‘Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes’, was held earlier this month. Jay was kind enough to donate all funds from sales to support the services we provide at Streetlife.
Jay’s story
Jay served in the Army for 15 years, and since he was diagnosed with CPTSD and EUPD, he has found a love for art and inspires others by sharing his stories through artwork.
During the VIP preview of the exhibition, Jay shared an insightful, honest and impactful speech. The speech highlighted Jay’s mental health struggles, his mission to share love and more information on why he decided to support Streetlife.
We were delighted that the Mayor and Mayoress attended the event, which also included a drinks reception and buffet.
Thank you to Jay
Having Jay hold this exhibition was a great opportunity to open our doors to the wider community. We have seen the positive and inspiring impact that Jay’s work has had on our young people who visit the centre regularly.
We’re really proud to have heard Jay’s story and want to say a huge thank you to him for sharing his story and making this such a heartwarming experience for all.
Jay raised an incredible £500 at this exhibition, which will go to helping vulnerable young people in our local area.
Thank you to everyone who attended the event and donated to the exhibition. It truly means a lot to our team and all of the young people who benefit from our services.
How will Jay’s donation help us?
At Streetlife, we are passionate about helping young people aged between 16 and 25 who find themselves homeless in Blackpool. We can also provide advice for other concerns, ensuring that our young people know where to go to access the most suitable information.
Donations such as this one allow us to continue offering our fantastic services in The Base and The Night Shelter, giving young people a warm and safe place to relax, sleep, learn new skills and meet with other people.
We wouldn’t be able to continue offering our services without the generosity of the local community and our amazing volunteers. Thank you so much for everything you do.
Lastly, we want to say a special thank you to Jay for bravely sharing his story and for the valued donation. We hope to welcome you back to Streetlife again soon.
