We are so excited to announce that the Streetlife Big SleepOut is returning for 2025!
We’ll let you know more about the event, when it is, and how your support can help. Trust us when we say that this is not an event to be missed!
What is the Big SleepOut?
The Big SleepOut is our annual event to raise vital funds to keep the Streetlife Base and Shelter open and thriving.
The SleepOut involves members of the public sleeping outside The Night Shelter for one night. This event aims to raise important funds and awareness around homelessness. Many people do not realise the issues that homeless people face, and this event provides only a very small insight into what young people may experience.
We are pleased to announce that the Big SleepOut 2025 will take place from Friday, 4th April at 8 am until Saturday, 5th April at 6 am.
What is The Base and The Night Shelter?
The Base offers a caring and comfortable environment for young people aged between 16 and 25 living in the local area. At Streetlife, inclusivity is extremely important, and we welcome people from all backgrounds.
By attending The Base, vulnerable young people can access a wealth of support, including free lunch, washing facilities, food and toiletry parcels and assistance with the cost-of-living crisis.
The Base is open Monday to Friday, 12:30 pm until 3:30 pm.
The Night Shelter is our emergency 8-bedroom space, open 24/7, 365 days a year. This area has been specifically designed to support young people experiencing homelessness. In addition to their own lockable room, young people can also access shared kitchen and bathroom facilities to ensure they can get a good night’s rest.
How much does it cost to keep the Night Shelter open?
Our Night Shelter is open at all times to support those in need. It costs around £85,000 every year to keep it open and running effectively.
All of this money is raised by us to keep our services going. We are forever grateful to the many people who have helped us to raise these crucial funds over the years. Your help allows us to make sure that young, vulnerable people in Blackpool have somewhere safe to go when they need it the most.
How has the SleepOut helped previously?
The SleepOut helps us to raise awareness of the problems regarding homelessness. It also allows us to raise vital funds for those who are most vulnerable and suffering from homelessness.
Previously, around 150 people have slept on the streets of Blackpool in one night for our event. This event has been incredibly successful in the past, and the money raised helps keep our services going. Read about last year’s SleepOut.
We’re giving you the ability to sign up very soon, but if you aren’t able to join us, please consider either making a donation or sharing the event details to raise awareness.
We are so grateful for any support you can provide, as we know the immense impact it has on the lives of so many young people living in Blackpool. Sign up to our newsletter to be the first to hear when registration for the Big SleepOut 2025 is open!
