At Streetlife, our mission is to provide support and shelter to vulnerable young people in Blackpool. We support people from all backgrounds, aged between 16 to 25.
We provide our support through care and shelter and offer life skill workshops. Not only does this help our young people get back onto their feet, but it also helps them develop their personal skills. We’ve had the privilege of helping so many young people in Blackpool, and we’d love to share our latest statistics with you.
Money raised in 2023
Streetlife has such an incredible impact on the community, and 2023 was a fantastic year for us. We hosted our charity ball – raising £7500, completed our annual Big SleepOut – raising £45,000 and got a visit from the amazing Emma Willis at Comic Relief!
We also teamed up with Minute Shorts and organised many day trips for our young people to enjoy. We were also supported by the fantastic Rebellion Festival, which raised over £3,000 for Streetlife.
Our impact in 2023
In 2023, we supported an incredible 323 young people! Due to the current economic climate we extended our opening hours in both locations last year to better support our young people. The Night Shelter opened 24/7 for the first time ever, and The Base increased its opening hours by 42% and began providing a free hot meal each day. During 2023, we also achieved the following.
- 90% occupancy rate
- 2,615 heads on beds
- 6,479 individual visits to The Base
- 5,000+ hot meals served
- 500+ emergency parcels delivered containing food and toiletries
- 26,000 cups of tea
The whole Streetlife team is incredibly proud of everything we achieved in 2023. It was a fantastic year where we were able to support many young people in the local area.
We are so excited to see what 2024 has in store for us, and we have already been able to support so many young people.
Big Sleep Out 2024
Would you like to help us with our mission of supporting vulnerable young people in Blackpool? Why not take part in this year’s Big Sleep Out? The event is taking place on Friday 22nd of March in St John’s Square, Blackpool.
Every year during the Big Sleep Out, more than 150 people spend the night sleeping outside the night shelter. This event helps us to raise awareness and funds to keep the night shelter running efficiently. 2023 was a record year for donations, can you help us beat it again this year?
If you’re interested in taking part in the Big Sleep Out, you can register here.
Thank you so much for all of your continued support – it is much appreciated by our whole team and the many young people that we are able to support. Let’s make 2024 another fantastic, record-breaking year for Streetlife.
