We are so proud to announce that we raised an incredible £45,000 at this year’s Big SleepOut – our highest amount raised ever!
The Big SleepOut 2023 took place on the 31st of March outside St John’s Place in Blackpool’s town centre and ran from 8 pm until 6 am.
This year we were joined by 110 amazing people who joined in with the sleepout to help people using the services at Streetlife. All participants were provided with a survival bag and a gift from Streetlife. The incredible participants worked well together to keep spirits high and continue raising money for young people.
Every year, we are blown away by the amount of support we receive to help young, homeless people in Blackpool. All the money raised goes directly to providing young people with safe accommodation when they need it most. Additionally, young people can visit the Streetlife base to learn valuable skills that can help them progress and secure future jobs.
Many of the fantastic people who joined us at the Big SleepOut reflected by saying it was much harder than they thought it would be to complete. This only highlights how important the work we do is.
We have been completing the Big SleepOut since 2019, and every year the support grows. We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along and joined in and everyone who donated, you really are making such a difference to the young people in the Blackpool area.
We also want to say thank you to our wonderful sponsor, Beaverbrooks The Jewellers, who continue to support us when raising money for those in need. By investing in these young people, we’re supporting them now and helping them to build a better future for themselves.
Here’s what our CEO had to say about this year’s event…
“Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for a night and slept out. The support we have received has been incredible. The experience gives a very good idea of how tough sleeping outside is, although one night does not replicate the true reality of rough sleeping that faces young people across the Fylde Coast. Thanks to you, we have been able to keep our doors open to support young and vulnerable people for over 30 years. We are extremely grateful to everyone who has helped to make it such an impactful fundraiser in so many ways.” – Jane Hugo, CEO Streetlife
We are so proud to be part of such a wonderful community and feel so happy that we can support so many young people with your help. Keep your eyes peeled for other ways that you can make a difference for young people in Blackpool.
