VOLUNTEER POLICE CADETS TAKE TO THE STREETS RAISING FUNDS FOR STREETLIFE

Blackpool and Fylde Volunteer Police Cadets are set to take part in Streetlife’s Big Sleepout on Friday 25th March 2022.

Streetlife’s annual Big Sleepout raises vital funds that goes towards the annual operating costs that the charity needs to secure to provide emergency accommodation to young people at risk of homelessness in the town.

30 police cadets are joining the annual event as the charity marks the 30th year of the emergency night shelter.

The local homeless charity supports over 400 vulnerable young people from their emergency night shelter and their day centre ‘The Base’ per year.

Nikki Leigh, Blackpool and Fylde Volunteer Police Cadet Co-ordinator for Lancashire Police said:

“It is great to see the cadets take part in the Big Sleepout 2022 to support Streetlife in their vital work for young people in need of housing and support. I’m really proud of the cadets for taking part and helping other young people, building on the work they have already done over the years such as food collections, by raising awareness of the important issue of young person’s homelessness.”

Jane Hugo, Streetlife’s CEO said:

“We are really pleased that the police cadets are so enthusiastic about supporting a local charity.  Their willingness to help their peers who are coping with difficult situations. Is really admirable.  I hope that their experience will help raise the profile of the work Streetlife does so that more young people know we are here if they need us. I’m really looking forward to meeting the cadets at the sleepout.”
