Join Streetlife on Friday 1st October 2021 for their annual #BigSleepOut happening at St. John’s Square in Blackpool’s town centre.
#BigSleepOut2021 has been given the greenlight since the previous event for April 2020 had been postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic. This annual event is Streetlife’s fundraising event for supports of the charity to spend a night sleeping rough on the streets of Blackpool’s town centre to raise vital funds in order to keep their emergency night shelter at St. John’s Square open.
In previous years the event has saw the generosity of over 200 people take to the streets to support the cause and in 2019 raised over £43,000 to help towards running costs of the keeping their emergency night shelter open.
Streetlife is a youth work charity whose aim is to assist vulnerable young people in the Blackpool area, established in 1982, Streetlife is an organisation, which assists vulnerable young people in Blackpool, a lot of who access our service as homeless.
Jane Hugo, Streetlife’s CEO said:
“COVID 19 has presented us with lots of challenges and Streetlife sends condolences to all those who have been affected by this dreadful virus. Our ability to fundraise has been impacted along with most other charities. We are really pleased that we can now safely hold our annual sleepout after having to cancel it twice in 2020. We are very grateful to the continued support from those who have been patiently waiting to participate. We are also encouraged to have people signing up for the first time. This is our main fundraising event, and the proceeds help go directly to helping us keep young people safe and off the streets.”
The monies raised will be used to provide emergency safe accommodation to homeless young people in their Night Shelter at St. Johns Walk in Blackpool town centre.
This year’s #BigSleepOut2021 will be the organisations largest to date with a limited number of spaces available on the night. The event costs just £10 to sign up and you will receive a Streetlife entry wristband, commemorative gift and plastic survival sack and will be held outside St. John’s Church at St. John’s Square in Blackpool town centre.
