Christmas Spirit

We at Streetlife have been blown away by everyone’s generosity this Christmas. Local people have been bringing fabulous gifts to the shelter….indian takeaway (the restaurant gave 50% off when they were told where it was going), a hamper from the custody desk at Blackpool central police station, bags full of goodies for our young people which included bacon eggs and sausage for breakfast on Christmas morning, a greengrocer from Layton turned up with lots of lovely fruit as they are closing for Christmas.

On top of this our local councillor donated a Christmas tree to the shelter, St. Mary’s Catholic College came in and decorated it, The Prince’s Trust decorated our daycentre, Women’s Institute in Wrea Green knitted lots of hats and berets, HSBC in Poulton had a collection of food and goodies as have Asda, Sainsbury’s have donated cakes and bread, and Tesco gave us a £50 voucher for our Christmas party, staff at Tyldesley Rd job centre are donating food, lots and lots of local people have donated gifts, vouchers, food for us to make into presents and Christmas hampers.

The support has been amazing and thanks to the public, we will were able to bring a little bit of hope and cheer to homeless young people this Christmas.
